Excel Keyboard Shortcuts

Microsoft Excel has been described as one of the best programs ever made, and it is still considered the gold standard for most businesses around the world.  Regardless of your experience with Excel, there is always something new to learn.

Keyboard shortcuts are a great way to move between cells and enter formulas quickly.  Here are some of the most useful shortcuts, according to PC World.


  • Control - Down/Up Arrow = Moves to the bottom or top cell of the current column

  • Control - Left/Right Arrow = Moves to the cell furthest left or right in the current row

  • Control - Shift - Down/Up Arrow = Selects all cells below or above the current cell

  • Shift - F11 = Creates a new blank worksheet within your workbook

  • F2 = Opens a cell for editing in the formula bar

  • Control - Home = Navigates to cell A1

  • Control - End = Navigates to the last cell that contains data

  • ALT - = = Auto sums the cells above the current cell
