  • Here's why you have trouble blowing out those trick candles.  The wick of a trick candle has small amounts of magnesium in them.  When you light the candle, you are also lighting the magnesium.  When you try to blow out the flame, the magnesium inside the wick continues to burn and, in just a split second, re-lights the wick.

  • A person can live without food for about a month, but only about a week without water.  If the amount of water in your body is reduced by just 1%, you'll feel thirsty.  If it is reduced by 10%, you will die.

  • In a study of 200,000 ostriches, over an 80 year period, there was not one reported instance of an ostrich burying its head in the sand.

  • More than 50% of the people in the world have never made or received a phone call.

  • If you suppress a sneeze, it is possible to rupture a blood vessel in your head or neck, and die.

  • The cigarette lighter was invented before matches.

  • Like fingerprints, everyone's tongue is different.
